The South African Music Awards (SAMA’s) will be celebrating a ramarkable milestone this year, in their 30th anniversary. The award show which was founded in 1994 as the country welcomed democracy, have continued to celebrate the excellence, creativity and diversity in the South African music industry.
Leading up to this year’s event, the SAMA’s have announced the first batch of nominees in the first 2 categories being the Record Of The Year, sponsored by The Motsepe Foundation and the Music Video Of The Year, sponsored by RISA.
Top South African music acts have been nominated including Tyla for her Grammy winning hit, Water, Lady Amar and CICI for Hamba Juba, Tyler ICU for Mnike, Dlala Thukzin for iPLAN, Kabza De Small, Young Stunna, DJ Maphorisa, Sizwe Alakine, Mthunzi and Umathakathi Kush for Imithandazo and more all nominated in the Record Of The Year category.

Nominated this year in Music Video Of The Year category, presented by RISA Audio Visual(RAV) are Tyla for Water, Will Linley for Last Call, Nasty C and AKA for Lemons Lemonade, Busta 929 and Boohle for Ngixolele and more.

There’s no official dates for the SAMA’s but the voting for these 2 categories is officially open to the public as these are the only public voted categories at the SAMA’s.
